Atmospheric Dispersion Modeling • • •
We develop, maintain, and apply atmospheric models as components of our integrated solutions. From deterministic planning codes to probabilistic risk assessment models and rapid-response real-time capabilities, we deploy and operate the right modeling capability for each application. Our forte is real-time modeling of atmospheric processes in mountainous terrain and other complex atmospheres.

Hazardous Material Characterization and Health Assessment • • •
AlphaTRAC assesses the characteristics and potential health impacts of hazardous chemicals, biological agents and toxins, radioactive and nuclear materials, and explosives. This includes physical characteristics, chemical and radiological characteristics, substance interactions during events and within plumes, airborne release mechanisms, and environmental effects. We apply our knowledge of health effects to receptor analysis—chemical exposure, radiological dose, biological exposure and infection, and explosive blast effects. A particular strength is the assessment of mixtures.

Accident Analysis • • •
We are experienced in developing representative event scenarios for evaluating unplanned releases of hazardous materials—from high-probability/low-consequence events to low-probability/extreme consequence events caused by operational accidents, natural phenomena, external events, and malevolent acts. Barrier failure analysis is a specialty.

Protective Action Planning • • •
AlphaTRAC takes a comprehensive approach to protective action planning. Working with emergency planners and decision makers, we identify the key decisions that must be made during hazardous material emergencies and apply our knowledge of hazards, event characteristics, and atmospheric transport to develop protective action strategies that work in the real world. These strategies are captured in Protective Action Plans that describe the actions needed to protect people and assets.

Meteorological Assessment and Prediction • • •
Our meteorologists have a thorough understanding of atmospheric processes and apply that knowledge in our integrated solutions. AlphaTRAC’s strengths include the design, deployment, and operation of monitoring sensors and sensor networks; data acquisition; data quality management; and the analysis and application of data to decision-making. We are also experts in weather prediction and the deployment of predictive atmospheric models.

Crisis Decision-Making • • •
Perhaps our most unique core competency is decision-making processes for crises. Working with front-line personnel, we have gained a singular understanding of decision makers and decision processes involving severe time pressure and limited information. We use this unique knowledge to create decision procedures, tools, and information that can save lives in emergencies.
